Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Susan Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hello folks. Yesterday I paid for a Board and for conversion help. I note that there is still nothing to download and I assume from other posts here that the payment will not go through until tomorrow being a business day. That being the case I am wondering what the next steps will be. For example, tomorrow when I go into downloads and there is something there, what steps will be necessary for me to make my forum? Secondly, I have an Invision Plus Board that I wanted to convert the posts etc. will someone do that for me for the extra money I paid or do I do that myself and how? Thank you.
Alex Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hey there :) Sometimes payments are processed on the weekends, though that is not guaranteed. If not, then it should be processed tomorrow, you'll get a welcome email and from then you can download it. From there you simply download the zip archive, and upload the files to your server. Setup a database and run the installer, and then your done :) About the conversion, if you mean you paid $50 extra specifically for a conversion, then one of the conversion staff will get to you on that.

Thank you Alex. Sounds a little complex, but hopefully it will be simple enough. I am a little concerned about the "server" and "database" you refer to since I am using a home computer, but I downloaded the demo OK. Cheers.
3DKiwi Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 The server is your host. i.e. you pay a monthly charge for some storage space on the internet. On your host you need to create an empty database ready for your forum. You might want to log into the IPS client area and go into the knowledge base. There are video tutorials and other useful stuff on installing the forum software. Hope this helps. 3DKiwi
Mark Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 When the payment is processed, it should become clear - the conversion will show up the client area. A couple of your questions depend on the circumstances, for example, I'm not sure if you paid for a custom conversion or simply for us to do the conversion for you - because of the many different situations there may be I would ask you to submit a ticket so you're being given the correct information.

I thought I could just download the "forum" like you would on freeboards etc. Will have a look once the payment is processed re the download. When the payment is processed, it should become clear - the conversion will show up the client area. Thanks Mark. The pending items are IP Board database conversion and standard board license. I will follow-up on this once the payment is processed, hopefully tomorrow.
