Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Louis M. Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 im not receiving emails from this forum What are you not recieving email from? PM's, topic subscriptions, etc? Also is your address in your profile still valid. Is your spam folder collecting the email by chance?
TestingSomething Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Same with me. I posted it as a bug in tracker becuase it's all IPB sites seeming to do it suddenly. I now do not receive email notifications for blog comments, private messages, etc... from any of the 3 or 4 sites I should have been receiving them from (all IPB forum sites). I receive them if they are sent to my actual domain email address, but oens to Yahoo and I think even Gmail are failing to be received. What AMAZES me is how many good things don't show up, yet STILL whatever they are doing has zero effect on true spam as I get it constantly still!
Management Lindy Posted April 24, 2008 Management Posted April 24, 2008 Many public e-mail services (Yahoo, AOL, etc.) flag topic subscriptions as SPAM. Check your junk folder. :)
Majdi 2.1 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 im using gmail, my address is valid and there is nothing from ipb in spam folder
Ziv Grosu Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 im using gmail, my address is valid and there is nothing from ipb in spam folderMad_J, Goto My Controls > Email Settings > Board Preferences.Send a notification email when I receive a new private message Enabling this option will send an email notification of any new private messages sent to you. I hope that helps.
Axel Wers Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I check "Enable email notification of replies" and wait for reply in this topic, then I'll see if this is really issue. But I have to confirm this, generally I use email notifications but the last email notification I got 10 days ago.I registered test account here but I didn't get any validation email so far although I used resend validation tool as well. Many public e-mail services (Yahoo, AOL, etc.) flag topic subscriptions as SPAM. Check your junk folder. I use my own mail server I get ALL emails, spams including, but from IPS Forum I didn't get any email pretty long :D
Majdi 2.1 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Jean, I'm more than sure that my settings are fine but to make sure its isn't forum settings, try password reset email, it doesn't require any special settings, I'm not receiving it.
bfarber Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Wish I had that luxury. I get a good 30 emails a day from this site.
Ziv Grosu Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I cannot receive any PM notifications. I think it is alittle bug.
Majdi 2.1 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 i believe its a mail server issue or ips is being blacklisted. i suggest checking bouncebacks if any.
Axel Wers Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 There is a new topic IP.Blog 1.4.0 Beta 3 Released in Company News and Updates category. I am subscripted to this category but I didn't receive any email so far.
stoo2000 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 There is a new topic IP.Blog 1.4.0 Beta 3 Released in Company News and Updates category. I am subscripted to this category but I didn't receive any email so far. Ditto last one I had i believe was for IP.Downloads 1.2.1
Midnightmadness Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I'm haveing the same problem I subscribe to that forum for the security releases and such and to keep up on new products. Last announcement I got was about the Downloads.
Ziv Grosu Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 All of us got the same problem. If you've got this problem. Please write about this notice to : IPS Support because we cannot do anything about it. (The customers)
wickedfpoop Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Why would they want to open a ticket for General Support for something on our site not working? Keith, Jason, Louis nor I can do anything to resolve the issue. I'm sure the appropriate staff will take a look to see what's going on. Although, the free accounts like Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail are constantly blacklisting emails coming from any of our servers. Most of the time, they don't even send bouncebacks for us to take a look at. It's blocked at their server level like it doesn't exist.
Axel Wers Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 the free accounts like Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail are constantly blacklisting emails coming from any of our servers. I use paid email service but I didn't get any email from forum ten days. :( But from ticket system I got :)
Mat Barrie Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Interesting. Postini tells me it never saw an email from you, the backend Gmail servers never saw anything from you, the even further backend MDaemon and Exchange also say they never saw anything from you. This isn't a matter of free providers blacklisting you, it's a matter of the email never going out in the first place.
TestingSomething Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 People, we're all crazy obviously. Brandon keeps CLOSING my bug reports of it. Obviously we just are all dreaming. In fact he even insulted me for bringing it up and said it is not a bug and is only me having it happen. HA.
Rikki Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I use gmail for my board email and they come through just fine.
TestingSomething Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Butttt if you read this topic there are more than one who don't get them at all for gmail. I usually use yahoo for forum emails and so I mainly can speak for that, but I do have one test account on my site which used a gmail account and it never gets bulk emails, I noticed recently. Bottom line is that when people have been receiving emails every time for years and then it all stops at once for multiple people, something is going on. It may be the IPB software or it may be something related to yahoo or gmail, but if the company cared whatsoever about making the product a quality product they would want to KNOW why their emails magically stop going to yahoo email addresses instead of just arrogantly mocking the bug reports and closing them instead of asking for further configuration details. Brandon is the ultimate in rash assumptions and once he does decide something is one way, he won't even look into reports about them and then when they get proven correct (like several of my reports finally did) he never says "oops I was wrong to ridicule the reports". Anyway whatever. I could care less. Let's see what happens when the big companies start getting complaints by customers because that's when IPS will look into the matter, not when unimportant customers such as myself have this happening. Is he going to tell them it's "only you" like he does me when this topic alone shows it's not just me? Site documentation states that minimum versions of PHP and MySQL are recommended for IPB. I don't see anywhere where it says "don't use yahoo or gmail". Developers don't like IE either so it's almost like they are saying not to use IE if you use IPB also and I am sure it's still a majority who uses IE over firefox, or at the least it is a big enough percentage to where IE display matters. Sigh.
Rikki Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 It's not Brandon's job to question why emails to gmail don't get through to the end user. His job is to fix IPB, and if it's not an IPB problem, he'll close it and move on. You're taking things too personally, marking your bug as bogus isn't attacking you, it's just not an IPB issue that can resolved by us. Please don't get so hot under the collar about these kinds of things, they're only bug reports at the end of the day. And, like I said, I'm getting them and I use gmail. So saying 'don't use gmail' isn't really worthwhile - it's an isolated issue even if it's not unique to one user.
TestingSomething Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I seriously hope a big company does have this happen I really do. Becuase I want to see you and he both tell them to just deal with it. this forum, my forum, invisionize so far on the list which all do this for yahoo.
Majdi 2.1 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 this has nothing to do with IPB, its the mail server not delivering emails or being blacklisted.
