Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Slimy Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 This is not my idea but I figured it may get better attention here :)[*]Make it so if enough members report a specific thread/post, that item becomes invisible until we investigateSo basically, if the same post or first post (thread) is reported x times, it automatically hides itself until a moderator comes around. X can be set by the admins, something like 3 reports and BAM, auto-hide :)
TCWT Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 This is open to abuse by members reporting it on purpose and asking others to do the same. Bad idea. Also, people can reg new accounts and report a post easily..-1
Slimy Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I don't see the problem if people report a thread for the sake of getting it hidden, they'll just get themselves banned. Plus it's not like once it's hidden, it can't be unhidden. It's also not hard to limit to members with 100 posts or whatnot.
Jason H Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I think it has potential.. But moreso as a mod.. Reason being is that we don't track the number of reports.. Adding that would add resource usage. Additional queries.. But.. then again, probably only when reporting..Don't know.. I can see the usefulness for some people, but feels more like a good idea for a mod to me.. Just my thoughts.
Millar Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 I quite like the idea but agree that it has some flaws.
