Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Jonessie Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Extended terms and conditions policyI just thought it would be a good idea to add a secondary terms and conditions to the terms and conditions. By default this would be disabled and enabled if there was a need to add a secondary terms and conditions. If I have lost anybody I shall explain in a little more detail. As a standard you have the terms and conditions when you register a new account with the community board, you therefore, have to tick the box to continue with the registration. I thought it might be a good idea to add a secondary terms and conditions (if desired) to adhere to again, then the new member can register their account. I
atomicknight Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Can't you just modify the existing terms and conditions to fit your needs?
Mat Barrie Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 If the member has agreed to these terms before registering the account, outlining liability and complaints procedures, your somewhat protected a little more than a plain and simple terms and conditions. This would be helpful for larger websites and organisations which use IPB for their business. Then edit the terms and conditions text. This isn't a suggestion...
Jonessie Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Then edit the terms and conditions text. This isn't a suggestion...A bit of a harsh reply, :( what I was referring to was the Board Guidelines, thinking it would be a good idea to add another field below "The registration Terms and Rules" whereupon the community administrator could add an additional terms and conditions after you have clicked on the check box to confirm you have agreed with the terms and conditions of the community board. I thought it was a valid suggestion, especially for organisations that use IPB for their business. It's basically a safety net for the organisations that use IPB.
bfarber Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Why would you need to add a second page? Why have two terms and conditions? I'd say just add the contents you want to add on your second page to the first terms and conditions.Personally it annoys me enough to have to agree to those terms/conditions (it's an extra page just to click a checkmark) so adding a secondary one would probably cause me to turn around and leave. I don't even like it when my CC companies make me do that, which is rare.

The egg is on my face.   I'll get my coat and leave then. >_< (w00t)

~Dopey~ Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I have no idea why one would need a second TOS so  Well said bfarber (can't believe I just said that :o ).A simple copy and paste with a quote box would do that trick just as nicely.
