Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
DeLeTeBR Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I have a forum runing ivb 2.0.0 trial and I want to buy the 2.2.0 license but I need to know if there is a tool to upgrade from v2.0.0 to 2.2.0 ?
DeLeTeBR Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Professor P:I just have to make sure that there is a way include in the dist. to upgrade from 2.0.0 trial to 2.2.0 without loosing my acutal data.
Working4computers Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Just make sure you have a backup of your database before you start upgrading..... :) just in case
Mark Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 DeLeTeBR, if I am understanding you correctly (you are using the encoded version, yes?) then there is nothing 'special' about the database you are using.Simply uploading the files in the full version (overwriting the encoded files) will 'upgrade' you. There is no need to make any edits to the database. However, you may wish to email sales@invisionpower.com just to be sure ;)Have a nice day
DeLeTeBR Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Professor P:I have the last free version released by Invision ("Invision Power Board 2.0.0 Trial"), it's not the one with encrypted code, my question is quite simple:- "There is - in v2.2.0 - a tool/script/mambojambo to upgrade my forum to 2.2.0 so I will not loose my actual data ?"
Cybertimber2009 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 In an 'upgrade' no data is removed. However some data is conveted to make it run faster. You will require a new licence in order to update to 2.2. If you feel that you cannot perform the update and worry about data loss, you get free updates with Invision Power (aka they do it for you)No data is lost
Mark Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I'm sorry, I read your post wrong. I thought you meant the encoded version of 2.2.0.Yes, there is an upgrade tool, if you do purchase a license, IPS will upgrade it for you for free, however.
DeLeTeBR Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 cybertimber2000:I do know my english is far from perfect, but I believe your isn't that good either, here is a quote from my first post in this topic:... I want to buy the 2.2.0 license but ...Professor P:Thank you, I just need to to know if there is a option in v2.2.0 instalation to upgrade from a 2.0.0 trial version to 2.2.0.
Mat Barrie Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 It is able to upgrade ALL previous versions, Trial or Retail (they are the same you see).
Mark Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Professor P:Thank you, I just need to to know if there is a option in v2.2.0 instalation to upgrade from a 2.0.0 trial version to 2.2.0.Yes
