I can't find the categories table in my database (as the title suggests). Can someone point me to where it is please?

They're stored with forums in the ibf_forums table. :)

Typically this would fall under the "support" category which is, like, a big nono when posting outside of the client center... however, if you hit up any of the modification sites like IPSBeyond or Invisionize, you'll be able to get help on these sorts of topics without (too much) hassle. :)
