Amy T Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Link to the profile in the email send about a new member.captcha options in the admin cpoption 1 offoption 2 with numbersoption 3 with with numbers and lettersoption 4 pictures such as oranges, apples, easy to identify thignsThis is good for boards with members who are Dyslexic like me.
UBERHOST.NET Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 In the case of captcha option #4, how would a person identify the fruit? Type the names?
Strange_Will Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I think Invision needs to come up with a whole new anti-bot method instead of making CAPTCHAs harder and harder for humans to use...
Mat Barrie Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 No, Strange_Will, the method of using easy (for people!) to identify images and requiring the person to restate what it is is shown to be one of the best methods, as a bot can rarely ever identify a particular image with what it is.

I mean 20+ bots a day isn't GOOD bot protection. :P I'd like to know how it's "one of the best" being as I haven't seen it implemented anywhere yet. :PPlus it would put Invision way ahead of the other boards.

Strange_Will Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Take a gander http://gs264.sp.cs.cmu.edu/cgi-bin/esp-pixIt works okay, but sometimes the subject is mixed up, like a couple pictures of cows, some of sheep, the real answer is sheep, but why the two pictures of cows?! Ugh... thats what I'm talking about. :PRefined it will probably work great though, but we'll see.
VelvetElvis Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 A mod based around this would help with ADA compliance issues related to dyspraxias I think:http://www.gigoit.org/humanauth/
