cojo Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 New US federal rules on electronic discovery take effect today. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/provider/...&ID=6239820Request an optional archiving feature for all PMs be added to IPB. Companies need an ability to retain and store these as part of their document retention program.
bfarber Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 U.S. companies will need to keep track of all the e-mails, instant messages and other electronic documents generated by their employees thanks to new federal rules that go into effect Friday, legal experts say.Unless you employ the members or moderators on your site, I see how this has no bearing.Besides, you can easily backup your database from phpmyadmin, and other places, including the "export" option in the ACP for the messages tables.
Antony Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 What might be somewhat more useful is a feature to prevent immediate deletion of PMs. Could be a problem if people delete a PM that was sent before a backup was taken, or a small modification that saves a copy of PMs - as seen in the form of a PM logger.
