Universal Mod Installer

Yeah, it's an excellent an idea. I think it should be a component of IP.Board (in some way or another). If it came default with IP.Board not only would FuSoYa be 'chuffed' (I assume) but also it'd mean less people would be editing files and changing the database when they don't know how, instead the mod installer would do most of it for them. I'm guessing it'd also cut back on the amount of people who ask for help with problems; relating to mod installations.

But anyway, it's great and we love it. I'm glad to see Dean has started to use it for all of his 2.2 modifications and more and more modders are starting to make their mods use the UMI.

Thanks for the positive feedback. :)

While in many cases it's not possible to completely eliminate file edits, this installer can do a wide variety of other installation tasks quickly and easily. Doing file edits with it would only be possible if the files had some unsafe permissions on them, so I find it's best to leave that kind of thing alone.

I am sure IPB will have this feature incorporated in their Version 3 :)

And maybe pay fosoya for buying the copyright .... ummm ... maybe

a million dollors :D

I doubt the level of ownership FuSoYa can actually claim on the installer :shifty:

Clearly I respect FuSoYa's ability to code, I am just saying :-)
