Genestoy Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Is it just me or is the spell check not working? I deliberately spell something wrong, click the ABC checkmark and nothing happens then my IE6 freezes up everytime I try. Anybody else having this problem? Using the RTE editor. >_< Thanks
tzrtim Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 its a addon for IE that makes it work ispell? or something like that:)
TestingSomething Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I am using IE7 and it keeps telling me iespell isnt detected even though I had downloaded it a month or two ago. Now I just did it again, and it still says it does not detect it.
Genestoy Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I have ieSpell installed some time ago and the spell check still does not work here on this forum. There definitely is a problem. I just tested using my ieSpell in the browser and it worked just fine, but the ABC button here does not and crashes IE.
Terry - AKA Dumbledore Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Change the editor to standard and see if it works. It works ok for me in standard but crashes in RTE.
Genestoy Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Here is another test using the standard editor. OK worked fine there so there is a bug in the RTE editor - needs to be fixed before final
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 If people weren't so stupid then there wouldn't be any need for a spell checker. :P
TestingSomething Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 just keeps saying it doesnt detect it for me, in both editors.
Michael Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 It used to never work for me, but now I see it works fine for me in IE7 in the standard editor, but the RTE crashed IE for me too.
.KX Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 It would appear that only the STE is supported at this time, I'm sure IPS'll get 'round to updating the spell check to work with the RTE.
Terry - AKA Dumbledore Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 You have to to have iespell installed and it only work in IE.
Amy T Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 If people weren't so stupid then there wouldn't be any need for a spell checker. :PIt is not always stupidity that results in bad spelling.Take me for instance I am dyslexic.I can barely read things that are written by hand and I can not read cursive at all. I do not have as much trouble reading a computer screen and text on it.
Guest Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 well now that you mention it, on my 2.0 board I use phpSpell, it's a server-side spell-check and it works like a charm, you can down it from invisionize: http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/1012it exists for 2.1 as well: http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/5373
Genestoy Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 There was a bug and Matt fixed it today

Amy T Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I am not sure why but when I upgraded to firefox 2 I got a spell checker.
