Bradyok Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Would it be possible for IPB to have an option to forbid replys on threads older than X days? That way people wouldn't bring up year-old topics.
.KX Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I believe this is already a feature. Management -> Manage Forums -> Edit Settings -> Postable Forum Settings -> Default date cut off for topic display. If you set it to say: 30 days, then after 30 days any topics with no replys will not be shown therefore no-one can reply to them.
Working4computers Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 But someone can still change the cut off date. This doesn't stop them posting a reply to a older topic, just prevents them in seeing it until they widen the cut off date.....
ellawella Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Come to think of it, I don't see why IPS haven't included this feature, since they seem to take such joy closing topics that have been bumped after "too long"
Brandon C Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I agree, this would be a useful feature definitely! :)
Brock T Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I would image that you could get the same functionality from a task. Just have it run every night (or whatever) and close topics more than <insert time frame here> old.
Brock T Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 As odd as this is, I just ran across a mod that does this over at easyipb. Not sure what it would take to make it for 2.2 or not.
