When quoting a post that contains quotes, the quotes contained within the quoted post are not quoted. (That probably confused you but I'm not playing around here, this is an actual bug I just found out).

But why would you set that option to 1 or 2. Most people set it to a higher number. No browser is going to hang or crash with only a few quotes. :P

It is not really a limit. It is a setting to not allow quote tags inside of quotes.

Oh I thought there was a limit option. There was on 2.1.7, I'm sure of it.

There is a limit for the number of quotes in a post - yes.

There is also an option to disable quotes inside of quotes.
