Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
ScottyToledo Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I just installed the beta on a test server. I logged in, and it says I am logged in, but when the page reloads, it says I need to log in. I know I am using the right user name and password. What did I do wrong?
Josh Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Try accessing the admin cp first and disabling the stronghold cookie, see if that has any effect.
ScottyToledo Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Nope, that didnt work. I managed to get into my ACP just fine, and I disabled the cookie, but I still can't login to the board itself.
Mat Barrie Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Is it the same test server as you have previously used for your IPB installations? If so, try deleting all cookies for that particular URL from your browser
ScottyToledo Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Yes, it's on the same server. But a different folder and a different database. I had different passwords on my main forum, and the test forum. I changed the one to my test forum to be the same as the one I use on the main one. Now I can log in. I also cleared my cookies and cache. Now I can login to both boards with no problem. :)
Management Matt Posted September 22, 2006 Management Posted September 22, 2006 Make sure you are using a different cookie prefix if you're installing the beta on the same server as your current board.
Elemental Crisis Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I also installed the beta on the same server as my regular forum and the same thing was happening to me. What I did was under "Cookie Name Prefix" I just added "ipb2", of course it doesn't have to be "ipb2" but try and adding a "Cookie Name Prefix" and see if that fixes the problem.
azPNG Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Thanks to all of you, I had the same problem and I followed what Elemental Crisis suggested and that resolved the issue.
