Trel Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 If say a standard was purchased and then a year or so went by without any renewals, at that time would it still be $25 for 6 months or would a new liscense have to be purchases?
Andrew-T Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Once Yearly is over you have to pay $25 for 6 months. If you upgrade to Invision Power Board Perpetual License you get keep that for life. But only thing you need to renew is the Support for $30 for life.Again the new prices will be out when 2.2 Stable comes out.
Logan Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Have the same question :)Would be nice that if you didn't renew right away that for example; a year later you can choose to renew. So, when you need it instead of when it's due.

To get support or product updates, you have to pay an additional $25 for 6 months access.
Trel Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 So tell me if I'm correct.Hypothetical situationJan 1, 07-I buy a standard liscenseJul 1, 07-I do NOT renewJan 1, 08-IPB 3.0 comes out-I pay $25-I get upgrades and stuff for 6 months now?

Where we can use the product for life, but only use the version we paid for support for. Meaning you cannot use a version upgrade outside of the 6 months once you have paid for it, unless you have paid for an additional 6 months or any multipler of 6 months.I recently replied to a post, and quoted Charles on this subject, feel free to look for that post and read what he said yourself.Your better off buying a yearly license or a perputal license, now, you will save money in the end.
Trel Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Yeah, I found the quote that answers my question :)If you have expired yearly licenses once they new pricing starts then you will not be able to reactive them. This is only for current customers and active licenses.Yes - you can renew the 6 month thing any time. If you choose not to renew at 6 months you can let it expire and renew at a later time. Of course you won't have access to our resources during that time but like you said if you're not concerned that's fine.
.Cameron Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Is this true? I get opposite answer before. So have I - "If your Standard expires and you don't pay $25 for a 6 Month renewal, then you'll have to buy an entirely new Standard License at the $150 cost.
elj Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 If your current YEARLY license expires and you don't pay for a 12 month renewal before the switchover to standard licenses, then you'll have to buy an entirely new standard license.
.Cameron Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I'm confused.I'll just avoid the issue entirely and buy a perpetual license. :P
StateDOG Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Then, if I wanted to, could I buy a BRAND NEW perpetual license right now for $185 and sit on it if I have a project in the back of my mind I'm not ready to work on yet. But I'd own it "forever" and only be responsible for yearly $30 payments instead of twice yearly $25 payments w/ the new plan?
.Cameron Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 From my understanding you don't have to pay again if you have a perpetual.
.Cameron Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Except for a yearly support fee, right?Well that's optional.

The Perpetual licenses provides you with lifetime access to upgrades (although if you do not renew support, you cannot request these to be done by IPS Staff, you'd need to carry them out yourself). So, even if you do not renew support for $30 when your first year expires, you will still be able to upgrade your board. If you wait until the Standard license is released, you will pay $149 and get support for 6 months and then pay $25 every 6 months for support. If you do not renew support on this license though, you will not be able to access ANY upgrades whatsoever.
.NeoHawk Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Hello, I've got a question.Since the Perpetual License will be removed, will I still be able, probably through the Enterprise License, to access all future Versions/Updates/Upgrades of IPB? Since I'm not in need of most kind of support, that is what I really want.If so, can you give me any information about the costs?Sadly, I'm not able to purchase a Perpetual License at the moment, that's why I'm asking.

You'll have to purchase the Standard License at $149.00 with the 6 monthly $25 optional support renewal fee.

.Cameron Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Question: If I buy a perpetual, and at some point (after one year of support has ended), I decide that I want support, would I be able to pay $30 then?
Dark Phantom Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Question: If I buy a perpetual, and at some point (after one year of support has ended), I decide that I want support, would I be able to pay $30 then?YesYou do NOT have to purchase the support contact lets call it for the perpetual license, or the support and product license for the standard license right away. Both are optional and thus you don't have to purchase them. When you want updates on the later, you would have to pay, just a thought to consider who really needs support on both their licenses. If you have support for one license, you have access to IPS's support staff and all community features, I am just say :-)
