The difference between the Chat component and others is that it's paid monthly - it's a subscription. There's no "Updates" or anything.

For live chat, I never really liked parachat. I found the best solution so far was Flasherize its like $45 a year and its very easy to setup and use. And it is full of new features. James really does give great support on the system. But if you want a cheaper system use Flashchat by Tufat.com

Just be aware of what you're getting into. There's been quite a security scare lately with Flashchat, with some people saying the vulnerability has existed for some time. Whether this is true or not, I'd definitely suggest looking hard and carefully at any big third party closed source modifications you choose to install - any backdoor in a third party app both makes your boards support extremely difficult, and compromises your boards security.

I wasn't specifically picking on Flashchat, though it may have appeared this way. Thanks for clarifying its current status though, it helps people make informed decisions.
