Mat Barrie Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 As per the topic. Similar to Web Hosting Talk, have a permission mask seperate from BBCode on either the member groups or forums specifying whether the user is allowed to post messages with URLs in them. This would allow you to deter spammers, as every post their bot would try to make would be blocked with "You cannot post messages with web site addresses" or something in them.
Antony Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 This is an issue, paticulary on some boards. That said, I can't see it being popular enough to include in the base board... If only we could use PHP in the BBCode parser...
Guest Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I think it's a great idea, especially for those whose boards are victims of continuous spam.
Dlf Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I think there will be a black-white list 'feature' of 2.2 which allows admins to set what websites can not be posted (black-list) or allowed (white-list).
eyedam Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 a permission mask seperate from BBCode on either the member groups or forums specifying whether the user is allowed to post messages with URLs in them.I wouldn't want another extra permission mask option here to mess things up. That permission could very well go together with the posting permission.Adding such option to a member group would be OK though.

.Cameron Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I don't know if I myself could use this, but it would be nice to disable the posting of links on particular groups.
