Posted August 13, 200618 yr As per the topic. Similar to Web Hosting Talk, have a permission mask seperate from BBCode on either the member groups or forums specifying whether the user is allowed to post messages with URLs in them. This would allow you to deter spammers, as every post their bot would try to make would be blocked with "You cannot post messages with web site addresses" or something in them.
August 16, 200618 yr This is an issue, paticulary on some boards. That said, I can't see it being popular enough to include in the base board... If only we could use PHP in the BBCode parser...
August 16, 200618 yr I think it's a great idea, especially for those whose boards are victims of continuous spam.
August 16, 200618 yr I think there will be a black-white list 'feature' of 2.2 which allows admins to set what websites can not be posted (black-list) or allowed (white-list).
August 17, 200618 yr a permission mask seperate from BBCode on either the member groups or forums specifying whether the user is allowed to post messages with URLs in them.I wouldn't want another extra permission mask option here to mess things up. That permission could very well go together with the posting permission.Adding such option to a member group would be OK though.

August 19, 200618 yr I don't know if I myself could use this, but it would be nice to disable the posting of links on particular groups.
