plugin system

I would love seeing a plugin system in ipb which support third parties plugins like the one in vbulletin, mybb and php3
i have used mybb myself and the plugin system is awesome

offtopic: does ipb work on mysql 5 and php5? if not will next version work?

If you mean plugins such as mods you can use the Components System.
If you mean use it for the database on your home page, you can use the API to use data such as members on your site.

Have no confirmation about the versions but I run it on PHP5 and MySQL5 and it works fine.

but we had a discussion about this on the resource site and there are plans to have a hook system in ipb 3.0. :)
