cam drysdale Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Okay on my forums i have added the rss feeds as icons by adding html into the forum desc, like so: This works fine, but i was wondering if IPS could implement such a feature in 2.2
cam drysdale Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 So anybody have any thoughts on this as a feature of IPB? Its an awesome thing to use, but is it worth implementing or just adding by hand like i did
fozo Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 can you share that html code to put the RSS button on every topic?
DAN21 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Nice idea, I can't tell what's RSS is for. I think it is just a feature that nobody uses. BTW fozo try IPSBeyond.com or Customer To Customer Assistance forum.

RSS is a pretty popular technology, and is especially useful if you have a lot of blogs, forums, or news sites that you check often. Instead of visiting each site, you can use a RSS feed reader to download the latest content, usually straight to your desktop.

I still dont like it, i rather look the original blog/news/forums webiste instead.
cam drysdale Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 RSS is more than that! Think of it as a link, instead of having to do complex SQL dumps or PHP coding, you can just get the RSS to bring the data in within seconds, its perfect for displaying posts and stuff on your main page and linking them up with your forums. Basically my idea was to have IPB create the icon automatically, as i've had to add the html code to each forum description by hand.
