We all know that IPB 2.1 has a neat quick edit feature, that is one of the most handiest things on IPB (IMO). So how about the ability to use quick-topic, for instance, when you click New Topic, there could be a similar drop down menu as with Edit. "Quick Topic" and "Full Topic" (or similar).

I think this would be very very handy, especially if someone wants to post a short topic.

The main reason I like this, is one would not have to wait and wait and wait for the emoticons table to even begin typing.

How do you imagine it would look? A floating box where you type the topic? I wish the fast reply would be a floating iframe... incorporate that into your idea and you'd have a winner.

If this was incorporated, I think a window similar to My Assisant would be suffice; and because that is also moveable. ;)
