I think that the next version of IPB should add some Mass Manage Forums capability. You know; for those times that you want to add the same setting to many forums at once but CBA'ed to do em one at a time?

Here's how it would work:

You go to edit the first forum the settings would be applied to and select all of your changes. Then an AJAX window would come up, possibly with some radio buttons inside; confirming that you want those choices to be applied; along with check boxes to select the forums to apply the changes to. Then at the bottom of the page; there would be an extra button called Mass Edit Forums.

It would be even better if this feature could support the same idea / functionality for permissions settings as well IMHO. :)

There should be things that it would not carry over to the other forums, such as forum descriptions, passwords, and of course forum names. But things like all the on/off settings, etc. should be able to be applied by such a feature IMO. :)

Yes. I wonder if Matt can come up with an AJAX/DHTML/Buzzword Interface to allow us to reorder forums by drag 'n' drop, edit titles/descriptions by right click and hold, and expand/collapse the forum tree via plus/minus buttons. I know its all possible and probably wouldn't be too complicated to do in theory, but getting it working in all browsers would be a nightmare.

You can kinda do the permissions per permission mask...but that could still take a while. This is something I've thought that they've needed to add for some time. +1

Yeah, I have to run SQL queries for this, which is annoying - if we're finding work-arounds for features not in, then well, they should be in

Pretty sure this is already planned for 3.0, I will re-suggest it again anyway :)

Glad to hear, I don't think one of my suggestions has ever made it into IPB in the 3 plus years of my using the product (w00t) . And a sorely needed one at that.
