  1. They also told us quarter 4 in 2008 then scratched that now not even quarter 2 in 2009 is going to be achieved.

Let's remember where IP.B was back in Decemberm compared to where it is now.

For the sake of the skin contest, I hope it's, umm, soon. A good skin isn't exactly the fastest thing to concoct, especially when you already have a schedule to work around.

All the more reason to take note of the words about making a skin that is easily changed between IP.B version updates.

Question: When will IPB be released?

    Answer: When it's ready

Question: When will it be ready?

    Answer: ....

Replace "...." with "When it's released!".
It's ready when it's released, and it's released when it's ready. (ha! I will trademark that).

  2. Of course, if you have any specific feedback on how we can make the current default skin better, we'd love to hear it

My personal request is on the 'View New Content" screen along with the icon change for read content also have the link color change as before. I find that (to me anyway) quicker to scan what I've read.
  3. Hey hey hey.... I'd rather it be a solid release then have them put out a number. Remember this is a MAJOR release (2.0 --> 3.0), not a minor (2.x --> 2.y) release.
I mean a release a month ago wouldn't have supported IE8, and there are still a number of bugs being fixed in and around.
There is no need to rush them. (Not going to get it any sooner even if you did)

  4. I'm not sure if this is doable but...
If possible can you guys see about removing some of the line breaks in the forum rules that display at the top of the forums?

In the Technical Chat forum here, between the header and the rules, that fills my screen, and it seems like maybe during the conversion a few got added. I don't remember the spacing like this.

  5. Submitting a form to add new content should *generally* reload the page. Too much ajax breaks normal browser back/forward functionality.

I might have an idea for a fix on that. On facebook, when viewing a photo album, you can use the arrow keys to go left and right in the stack. I didn't think it did but I was proved wrong recently... the photo is the only thing that loads on the page, but the window's URL also changes, therefore keeping forward/back support without a entire page refresh. How is that done? Javascript I guess? And would that be acceptable if you could make it work?

Though my 2c, I'd rather have non ajax.
  6. ...And that total download for the last version was 872, the number of registered customers on this forum is ~4240. In addition to those we have those without an active support license, and I believe that's quite a few.

20.5% of all active members downloaded not only it, but the latest version. I wouldn't call that a few.

    My 2c:
Leave it as a mod, espically for getting IPB 3 out into the wild.
If you really needed it, you can just GOOGLE what the person put in for location.
    "Location: Right behind you!"

And then you realize Google Local View utilizes webcams :P
