Thank You... sorry stupid question and I should of figured that out.

I apologize but I apparently did a setting change somewhere that now requires the user has to log in to see the site. Any guest sees only a login page. Could someone help me find the setting to change it back? I validated the page is available to everyone including guests, menu is available to guests but you can't see any of it unless you log into the site.

So I created a blog in the group DevOps and I have three categories attached to that blog in the group and I can see the categories on the front end when I create a blog post and can select any of the three categories but in the AdminCP I do not see those categories.

Blogs in clubs are missing categories when I try and browse via the admin cp I wanted to rename a category that is assigned to my DevOps club but I am unable to see the categories and instead this is what I see I cleared cache on site Tried a different browser than chrome Out of ideas.. any guidance is most appreciated.

In the world we live in today we are all doing a lot of programming and it would be great if Invision could add additional common code to the syntax highlighting. Also make it possible to click to copy code. Example to compare on how everything else has so much more code included in syntax highlighting. I get it Randy.. I am pretty familar with VPS hosting since I have had accounts on multiple different providers but I do appreciate your effort to help me out. With all that said is the reason I'm confused the conversion for wpForo isn't working. IPB to IPB works just fine (besides the files are unknown after migration) but all blogs, clubs, images all show up good. Now that I blew away my new site and started over I tried again and this time didn't select pages and I get No items could be found to convert. This may be because there is no data present to convert in your old database.

Just deleted the new site (mywiseguys.net) - reinstalled IPB - got rewrite and cron up and functional - started migration from eventguyz.net again and see if it works this time

Nevermind, I tried to run it again and after I entered all the details and clicked to proceed with doing the migration again it quickly displayed a message that you already did this and kicked me out. 😞

I also loaded up chrome incognito to eliminate anything in cache but no luck. I was able to go into the conversion and go to Step2 and just leave checked Members and System Information Forum and Topic Data UNCHECKED is Pages and Record Data Then I click Supply database details (Step3) and when I click Next hoping it will go to Step4 it jumps back to Step2. I tried this a few times without a different (hopeful) result

Thanks Stuart... I'm on the same cPanel user on the same localhost so not understanding the different username idea. Obviously I'm happy to try anything to get off the dependancy of wpForo and just use Invision Community for everything community related

would you suggest I run the conversion again? Afraid of it creating duplicates

Hi Jim I did select full conversion and the conversion process says it was successful (no errors) Are all permissions correct on all attachments? Not sure how I would check that. I assumed since the migration brought the users over (which i see) that the permissions would of been grandfathered into the migration? Any guidance on how to check the permissions I'd be happy to check. Are you referring going on the folder where the files are stored and validate new site (mywiseguys.net/uploads) has the same permissions as old site (eventguyz.net/uploads)? They appear to be correct but I didn't go through everyone. ALSO since I was trying to figure this out without bugging anyone I figured I'd just copy the entire uploads directory from old site (eventguyz.net) and paste in new site (mywiseguys.net) thinking I was missing files. That didn't work either

public_html/wp-content/uploads permissions on folder is 0755 (which should be enough) Also I did try and put a slash at the end of /home/username/public_html/wp-content/uploads/ no difference. I then realized its trying to move over pages and I don't really need the wordpress pages moved over.. JUST the wpforo but now its stuck in this conversion and when I try and start a new conversion it complains that one is already started and if I deselect the pages and just focus on topics and posts the converter re-enables the pages stuff at the top.

Been trying to migrate from Wordpress wpForo 2.3.5 on mywiseguys.com to my Invision Community 4.7.17 with domain mywiseguys.net In short, I'm leaving the wordpress for some frontend BS work that have custom apps but anything community I want on invision community. of course it would be pretty awesome if you could register on one site and use the same username and password on both sites BUT not necessary. I do, however, need everything in wpForo moved/migrated to Invision Community to include attachments. I tried the conversion but it keeps failing with wrong upload path but I tried full path, just public_html path

I migrated my old site (eventguyz.net) which is running the exact same version of Invision as the new site (mywiseguys.net). Most of it looks good BUT the attached files. Every page it says unknown instead of the file size. When you click on one of the files that say unknown you get Sorry! We could not locate the item you are trying to view. Get Support Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I confirmed all the files on the old site (uploads) are on the new site under uploads.

just trying to get everything solid before the new v5 is released. I want to work out all the kinks and have a solid system. Thank you for helping me do that.

Thanks Marc.. just as a suggestion would be great to add that pre-req in that doco so i don't have to bug ya. Could you confirm that I can convert multiple sources to one destination and that works? -- meaning you don't need a clean install to migrate to it

I have been trying to follow your documentation https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/getting-started/migrating-from-another-platform/running-the-conversion-r211/ it doesn't say both installations need to be on the same (localhost) but trying to do the convert (migrate) from a remote to localhost doesn't seem to work but I would like confirmation before I go through all the work of trying to move my remote host (eventguyz.net on scalahosting) over to my preferred localhost (mywiseguys.net on a2hosting). Can you convert from remote Invision Community (4.7.17) to local Invision Community (4.7.17)? Another another question I hope I can find the answer to... If successful migrating eventguyz.net --to--> mywiseguys.net Can I then convert another of my invision community sites over on top of it? I have a phpbb site, wpforo site and want to just move everything to one website if possible... groceries are getting too expensive (need to consolidate) 🙂 Thank You

Also do you know if version 5 will add Dropbox and/or Google Drive support for files? Amazon S3 bucket is just to darn expensive.. having a large HDD on a VPS is expensive so Dropbox and Google Drive are pretty inexpensive for alot of space so it would be ideal to store files off the server.

I am going to guess the production version probably won't be available until december (maybe a christmas gift)? Is it safe to assume it will either install on top of our version 4 (probably disable all the 3rd party plugins until they get patched to support 5) or is it a migration from 4 to a new fresh install of 5 Also can you confirm if you will still allow us to have self hosted? I just can't afford the cloud version Last question I have off the cuff is, is it planned that pricing will be the same as what we are paying now or is it planned to increase price. Okay, so you still run MariaDB 10.6.9? I just want to do this MariaDB upgrade once so trying to get to the latest working version. I know that comment was made in 2022 which is why I was asking.

Now we are in 2024 could you please let me know what the latest version of MariaDB is supported for Invision Community? It appears MariaDB I'm running is very old at 10.3 and in reviewing what is the current latest version of MariaDB is 11.3 but I don't want to upgrade to that if its going to kill all my IPB sites.

I've been a customer of Invision for years (maybe decades) and I slowly got into using Pages and could never make my pages look great and figured it was because I'm just not a programmer BUT recently discovered the bundle opentype offers and jumped onboard and DANG.. my website came alive. I'm so happy with what opentype has created with these that I feel so much happier about my website. I sure hope v5 has the same capability and if not.. I hope opentype updates these for v5. Thank You!
