we are having the same issue Google used to crawl lo-fi version very well and we put adsense on lo-fi version on IPB 2.3.6 , google gvae us 4000 impressions/day on lo-fi version on 3.0.5 , only 250/day!!

we tried to change ibf_search_results to HEAP on 3.0.5 it shows #1163 - The used table type doesn't support BLOB/TEXT columns any ideas please

1. manage "search results" 2. point system 3. better method of posting images to forum post 4. delete spams and bane spammer without going indo ACP

I don't think resources should be the issue as you could set it up like Drupal or like RSS function with proper caching system only pull posts every XX minutes We setup to let drupal to pull IPB forum posts every 120 minutes, not big deal on server resources really

agreed and second don't assume every member is PC-regular users many of our members are simply wanting *upload images *type in text *click "post" same as ALL major blog providers are doing such as blogspot, blogger..etc

IPB is getting slower from our experiences 1.2> 2.0.* > 2.1.* > 2.3 People blamed our server, but when we put dirrent version on SAME sever, people then did notice differences Wish 3.0.* could be tweaked further i rememebered the final "so -called" conclusion last time is "more function, slower" So, snice then we decide to only upgrade to new version of IPB "one year" after its release until all major bugs and performance issues resolved

please leave resource issue to us, just make a option for us to easily turn ON/OFF :)

just curious IPB use manay ajax around, but why make this NOT ajax? do you try to "avoid" from letting it conflict with shoutbox? fresh is of course a big deal, otherwise why IPB use ajax so much XD?

any words from officials? not really attractive for members if one line of text reload whole page..
