  1. Call the main phone number and it says "If you are an IPS hosting customer and your website is not responding, press 3 for emergency support information." You should be able to press "IPS Hosting" and then "Hosting: Emergency" - if that option isn't available, then I'd send in a ticket to account assistance to get that enabled :)
  2. Yes
  3. It's on the "Contact IPS" page. Anyway, thanks for reporting - I'll go ahead and close this now.
  4. :) That appears when you select the emergency ticket department, right above the ticket entry box (you can't miss it). A similar message is played if you call and press whatever button you need to press for an emergency, which you then have to press another button to state you've understood.
  5. Emergency support only carries a charge if you choose the emergency option and it's not an emergency.

    Final or RC3?

Unless anything incredibly horrible is uncovered, I think it's safe to say that final will be the next version. We'll be giving "final" to the quality assurance team before it's released to catch anything that may have arisen from RC2 (and we've invited more people than normal to participate in this process for final). At some point the plunge has to be made - we don't want an eternal beta.
  7. How is it? Let's say you just posted something and now I want to find out who you are so I can hunt you down (not that I could do that with just your IP address anyway :P) - I send you a PM, with an image in it - now I know your IP address. You should bare in mind I have very little say in what features are and aren't included. I'm just trying to make you see why it would be an utterly pointless feature, regardless of whether or not it's added :)
  8. But as I said, anyone can just link to an image or something and it'd be in their server logs. Right now, your IP address was just logged on my server because you viewed my avatar.
  9. As said before, an IP address is not personally identifiable information, my IP address is 82.21.53.245 - go nuts :P Sure, someone could order an ISP to release more information based on that IP, but your IP address is logged every time, you load any page, from any site. So, if you're posting things you shouldn't be on a forum, all it takes is for someone to register, stick an image in their signature that's hosted on their site - post in a topic, and bam - they have the IP address of everyone who's viewed that post. Let's say they wanted to get the IP of a specific user: they send you a PM with an image in it, you view the image, your IP turns up in their server logs for that image.
  10. When we upgrade to Converge 1.1, it supports SSO :)
  11. But, my point was, why would you sacrifice key security features when it's information that is collected regardless of whether IPB logs it or not - and there is no reason for it to not be logged. In fact, knowing an IP address is so important to how IPB operates - if it cannot detect an IP address, it will show you an error.
  12. Whether or not the software logs an IP address is kind of irrelevant as the server will log the IP address of every visitor. Also, if the software cannot log IP addresses, it causes technical issues... there are various features that rely on knowing the IP address, including security features such as IP matching, account locking, et al. Furthermore, an IP address is not regarded as private information (like a name or email address), nor can it be used to identify you. Some people seem to have an idea that every computer has a predefined IP address and anyone who knows it can find out your name and address... simply not true. Sure, your ISP has that information, but that's not public... think of your IP address like your library card number ;)
  13. Use developer mode? :P
  14. But this Soulja doesn't have access to that forum ;)
  15. Fundamentally, they are quite different. CCS will be an application for IP.Board, while Dynamic was a stand-a-lone application. CCS also is purely for content (at least in this 1.0 version) while Dynamic had a myriad of other features which are not needed as they are already in IP.Board (for example, Dynamic had Personal Conversations, which is now in IP.Board 3). But of course, there are similarities in that they are both content creation systems :)
  16. If people choose not to renew, that's their prerogative :) There was really no need to bring Jelsoft into this... I thought our community was a little bit above that ;)
  17. http://mwadetest.invisionzone.com/IPB3.pdf is sort of "what's new" booklet of the best features. A lot of new features were also discussed in the blog over the past year, so you may want to look through the archives: http://forums.invisionpower.com/blog/archive/1174-ips-company-blog/

    New IPB Board?

You should beware that there is no technical support for the RC - so if you experience a problem and you are unable to fix it yourself, you'll be out of luck. With that in mind, I personally, would wait until final.
  19. This article should explain everything with who gets access to what: https://www.invisionpower.com/index.php?appcomponent=core&module=customer_area&section=kb&do=viewarticle&id=385 To answer your question, the peer-to-peer boards are available to those with active support ($30 per year for perpetual license holders).
  20. Thanks for letting us know :) In future, you can report bugs here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/tracker/
  21. Applications and modules go together. An application is an addon to the board, and is made up of modules. For example, Blog, Gallery, Downloads and the bug tracker we have here are applications. Hooks on the other hand, modify the behaviour of an existing area area of the board, or add some kind of functionality to an existing module. In 2.x we referred to these generically as "modifications" and they often required file edits.
  22. Ditchmonkey, thanks for the positive feedback. It's great to know that we're able to provide you with a standard of service you're pleased with - we know how important these things are and we appreciate all the tickets, calls and topics like this from you guys telling us we're doing a good job. Although, I really don't think it's appropriate to start making digs at Jelsoft here, they get enough of that on their own forums.
  23. Pro tip: RSS ;)
  24. The problem is though, front-end users don't want to read a message saying where the error is logged, that wold confuse them. A big chunk of people also wouldn't even know how to open the log file so you'd still get the support topics ;)
  25. While you are correct, the tracker statuses and severities are only for our internal uses so I wouldn't pay that much attention if they don't seem to make sense - we know what they mean ;)
