Starting a New Build and need Advice
I can use some expert advice before I dive into development. I am totally new and have little experience with any code. I'm using Windows 11 for my development. I'm using the IPS cloud based system. I have many questions and for clarity I'm trying to stick to one subject matter at a time when creating a topic. Today I want to give you a general idea on the concept that I'm hoping for. Starting out I want to make sure that my design is efficient. I'm including what my homepage will look like. I have been doing a lot of reading on the IPS BLOCK which I figure is my best approach. Across the top of my homepage, as displayed in my uploaded image, are tabs that will open other images. The images are very close to being identical with the exception of the information and pictures. Example: Builder - . If the Builder Tab is selected, a page will be loaded that is almost identical to the homepage. On this newly selected Tab , you will have the ability to search for a builder of interest. By doing this a new page will be displayed right over the top of the homepage with the information and pictures related to the builder you selected. At least that's the plan. My first issue is my concern of an efficient approach to my concept. Here are my questions on how to develop the site. 1. Have all of the pages loaded somewhere else and load them into the block as requested. 2. Have all of the images preloaded on the homepage and had them appear as requested. This might be useful for the actual tab pages but not requested builder. 3. Some how I think I'm way off base and I'm hoping for a clue. I have more questions, but I want to keep this topic as clean as I can. Is there away to add topics with out getting them mixed up with a previous question. Keeping in mind they are all related. Here's hoping. Bob Snow

Can I use rollovers & Actions
>>You have to create the correct blocks << What do you mean by correct blocks? Are there different types of blocks? If so what block would I need? Bob

Can I use rollovers & Actions
I'm including an image that was the homepage of my previous forum. A person had the ability to click an image that would take you to a related page. I placed a note, arrows, on the example to help you see. Here are just 2 items I have to do. 1. A roll over would enlarge the image. 2. If clicked on image it would take you to a page that details, provides detail information of the image. The page you are taken to might have the same types of actions, rollovers or clicks. My thought is the pages might be what is called BLOCKS. I have the cloud based Invision Community. If the cloud version cannot do this but your other version can then I need to go that rout. Bob

Move my URL to Invision
>>Move my URL to Invision<< Currently if you type in my URL www.home2000.com you will load a image of SiteGround. I had a base WebSite there that is not even started, 5 days old. What really controls the action on the url? To create a web site with someone else do I have to cancel my url with SiteGround? Does the new provider of the new web site do that? Does SiteGround or me have to release the url? What really happen with the URL? Bob

Send and Receive Emails to my Google Chrome account
New to 4.5. Actually I'm new to IPB in general. It seems 15 years ago I used my website address to receive emails to my Google Chrome account I don't how I did it. My IPB is www.home2000.com, still under construction. So I would use bob@home2000.com. If someone sent me email to that address it would end up in my Google Chroma email program, which is what I want. I'm not sure if there's some settings within IPB or Chrome that I have to set up. Bob

Install AppServ to Local HardDrive

Install AppServ to Local HardDrive
I'm trying to install AppServ-x64-9.3.0.exe On my local hard drive. I was able to install successfully and it created the folder c:\AppServ\www. I know about ending my license key with "-TESTINSTALL" at the end. But that's about as far as I got. I do have a few questions. MySQL - I understand I'm to make some changes in there. MySQL DataBase - somehow ones. Create a database. Test - where am I supposed to put the name test when I'm setting up. localhose - how do I access the database once I have are properly installed. Currently all I have to do is www.home2000.com to access my website that is being hosted by my provider. Thinking That I Probably Have To Somehow Type in Something Similar to Get into My Test Set up That Is on My Hard Drive. I should mention: my Apache HTTP Server Information Server Name: localhost Administrators Email Address: amerifax@gmail.com Apache ATT Port: 80 Apache HTTPS Port: 443 Bob Snow

Install 4.5 test on Local HardDrive
Thank you all for your help. Special thanks to Paul E., with the very detailed description of what I need to do. But also why I'm doing it. In all my days this is the best. Bob

Install 4.5 test on Local HardDrive
If I decide to install on my hard drive, as mentioned above, I would be using either AppServ or WAMP. I did click on each link to see what they are all about. They both appear to be a bit complex. What exactly do they do for me. How do they affect the requirement for Apache + PHP + MySQL, being as it's installed on my hard drive. My thought is it's acting like a shell mimicking a server . I'm a 80-year-old rookie but I'm still facing the challenge. Bob

Install 4.5 test on Local HardDrive
I have 4./5 installed on my server right now, in the public_html directory. I also have room to install a TESTINSTALL. What I'm looking for is the file structure I would use. From what I have read elsewhere I'm under the impression that I would install in a subdirectory of, public_html. And the directory would be called: public_html/TESTINSTALL That's only a guess. Bob

Install 4.5 test on Local HardDrive
I'm trying to set up 4.5 on my local hard drive for testing. I moved the files into a directory, E:\ISP-Test. From here I am lost. Is there a certain file structure that I must follow for the installed files? Bob
