Monkos Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Do I need to change my license? will this be required anyway for v5 when it goes live?
SeNioR- Posted October 27 Posted October 27 You can download Invision Community 5 from your client area if you are using the Invision Community Classic license. If you are still using an older license, such as Invision Community Suite, you have the option to convert that into the newer license. You'll find this option at the bottom of your client area page.
Drewfus Posted October 27 Posted October 27 (edited) Its at the very bottom of your client area.Only if you converted to classic license. Edited October 27 by Drewfus
Monkos Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Is this only for the beta or is this to get 5.0 you need to move just so I understand? we were thinking on moving anyway but I just want to ensure I understand
Gary Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Hi @Monkos, This is only for Beta 2. v5 is not released yet. Please keep in mind that upgrading to any beta software is risky and can cause issues in a live environment or community. I would suggest getting a test community first and transition over once you’re sure everything will function correctly.

Could you guys have chosen a better name than classic? maybe "bundled" seeing as you get all the add-on licenses now?

There were just individual applications sold separately. Classic is the "Classic self hosted model", if you want to look at it that way :)
Joel R Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I'm going to take a step back in a very meta manner and point out that this is exactly the kind of repeat topic that forums should do a better job of addressing: New users asking the same question over and over again. How do we drive them to the right information (that is official, that is published, that can be referenced)? How do we upcycle related or existing topics? How do we give authority to answers and users? How do we capture these trending questions? Chris Anderson and SC36DC 2

The search function can quite easily solve this, but not everyone uses it. Showing results for 'beta download link'. - Invision Community In this club, under the Beta Information tab, there are clear instructions on how to get your hands on the beta. I personally think it is unrealistic to provide a means of answering every single "common" question. Let's say there is a page dedicated to FAQs that come up all the time on Invision Community. By the time the content is written, the page would go on and on. Interest would be lost because there is too much reading. People would choose to post up a topic instead of visiting that page; we're back to square one. Not to mention the Help Guides... 12 hours ago, Joel R said: How do we upcycle related or existing topics? Sort of related to the above... Searching the community for an existing topic or discussion about it using relevant search terms. 12 hours ago, Joel R said: How do we give authority to answers and users? Topic creators can mark a post as the solution, which gives any new readers to that topic a clear button at the top of the topic to go to the solution. 12 hours ago, Joel R said: How do we capture these trending questions? The Invision Community team, as a whole, are always on top of things. The support team address the day-to-day questions and queries that pop up with the software and would be aware of how often the same questions come up.
