Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 26, 20241 yr I plan to launch a course and start a community around it, so I'd like to ask you, Invision people, if you plan to launch the Courses app for the Self-hosted version or if that's not in the plan. If not, can any 3rd party app help me deliver courses? I'd love to reduce the use of other platforms and keep everything integrated into one. Edited March 26, 20241 yr by MediaDiGi
March 26, 20241 yr Solution This IPS provider @ReyDev offers a course LMS app that is superior to the IPS version for self-hosting folks. https://www.invisioneer.org/files/file/410-lms-courses/

Its worth pointing out, this is not a case of only not being available to self-hosted customers. Its quite a common misconception about things in general. Courses is available only on Creator Pro and above, meaning it's actually not available to some cloud customers either, depending on their package.

March 7Mar 7 Community Expert He would also be willing to pay more to access certain features from the cloud version in the self-hosted version. I think creating an official marketplace for add-ons for both self-hosted and cloud versions would be a great idea, both from a business perspective and for customers. As the creators of this software, you know best how to develop applications properly. I believe that many people would prefer to buy applications directly from you perhaps even through a subscription model to maintain ongoing support for them.
March 7Mar 7 Community Expert “I don’t mind paying more” The solution would be if you want it to use a cloud plan that includes it. IPS literally just moved away from selling a-la-cart modules with v5. It’s highly unlikely they’re going to consider selling multiple subscription models for self hosted. I don’t say this to be mean but to simply note the reality of the situation.
March 7Mar 7 Community Expert I agree, but we're talking about the core of the software here. I was referring to the applications introduced by the V5 software. And the marketplace, but an official one directly from the developers. Some modifications are not suitable for the core software, but creating such official add-ons and selling them would be a very good solution not only for those hosting independently but also for cloud customersI would prefer to buy directly from them rather than looking for external developers who offer software of questionable quality. For example, if I want a chat application, I pay either here on the website or through a module in the ACP, and I can install it immediately. I'm not talking about a marketplace open to all developers like before, but rather an additional business model for the invision. Edited March 7Mar 7 by PanSevence

March 19Mar 19 “I don’t mind paying more”Yes, but theres limits. I'd probably need the top tier hosting if not more, Not really keen on the idea of going from 60 euros a month to 500+
March 19Mar 19 Community Expert Yes, but theres limits. I'd probably need the top tier hosting if not more, Not really keen on the idea of going from 60 euros a month to 500+How about for 210 EUR?You don't need the business level package to access courses. The enhanced courses and lessons package is available with the "Team" level package. That's almost 60% less than you're quoting. :) If that's still too much, there is the "Creator Pro" which includes the basic version of courses for 136 EUR a month. So there are absolutely cheaper ways of getting access to Courses for less than 500 EUR a month. But again, if you're simply saying you want a $5 marketplace app, this is not likely to happen.
