Here how you can replicate.

  1. On Promote section hit X to delete a promoted topic
  2. Pop up appears and quickly disappears without hitting the OK to approve or cancel button.
  3. The promoted topic already deleted without confirmation.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

This bug won't be fixed due to the changes in the promotion system for version 5.

Ok...

This bug won't be fixed due to the changes in the promotion system for version 5.

Sorry Jim, but what version 5 has to do with fixing a bug in version 4? Both are completely different versions.

Keep in mind that deprecated functionality is provided "as-is" in version 4. There may be bugs we don't fix for a variety of reasons.

deprecated functionality is provided "as-is" in version 4.

In my 4 decades IT career I have never heard of this term for a paid and active version of any software, and this term "as-is"

"As is" means that the seller is selling the item in whatever state it is in at the time of purchase,
and the buyer is accepting the item "with all faults," whether or not they are immediately noticeable.

Moreover, your statement above "as-is" is the complete opposite of what IPS management has promised in this announcement.

With the release of Invision Community 5, we will begin the process of stopping support for Invision Community 4.
This will of course be a long process and we will still provide support and security updates for Invision Community 4 until final end of life.

You are stating that IPS will no longer fix any bugs from "deprecated functionality" in version 4, even though the announcement above stating that support and security updates for Invision Community 4 will continue until the end of life. Is it not enough that we have been incredibly patient in fixing bugs that have been reported for years and months?

Believe there is confusion here as the comments above were only in regards to the social promotion feature, not the whole suite. The social promotion feature will receive limited to no updates, thus “as-is”. The rest of the software will receive updates and security releases till end of life per the statement. Both items mentioned are true.
