Sorry for misusing this. I have not got any emails due to "something strange going on my mail server". I have changed my email today here on IPS. But as I have not get previous emails, I cannot answer the tickets. 😊

It happened to me a few times too. I remember I had this problem on 4.5.x

each time the cache was cleared, the default avatar was reset

but it was only on 4.5.x, since then it's been ok

Yea I’m investigating the issue for Sonya and that’s also my guess that it’s an old, already fixed bug which probably wasn’t retroactive so some installs have probably still broken data in their DB causing the loss.
