Default search option showing as Pages?

We're using a page (via IPS Pages app) as our new front page for our website. The site includes an IPS area and a database that has been coded by another developer.

However, the search bar on the IPS page that we're using as a front page is defaulting to "Pages". I need it to default to "Everywhere". How do I change that setting, please?

You would need to actually set the pages application as your default application, which you would do by selecting the star icon in Site Features>Applications, and also set the default page in your pages application to that "front" page you have created

Okay. I'm going to have to think about this, because the tech guy who installed it all put the IPS into https://forum.sitename.com. So, our current front page is just sitting at forum.sitename.com/front/ -- and he's set our domain to redirect there.

If I set Pages as the default App, that means that forum.sitename.com will now open to the Page, rather than forums, right? But I need forum.sitename.com to be the actual forum.

Yes, that is correct. If you are using the community software as your whole site, the most sensible thing to do would actually be to have your site at the root of your domain

Unfortunately, we have a large trading pin database which is twenty-four years old and not running on IPS. That is where this issue stems from. So, it does not look like there will be an option here, does it?

There's a plugin by @Adriano Faria to remove the Pages option from the quick search menu. That would make it default to Everywhere in your situation. However, after the move from the IPS Marketplace, the plugin is missing from his site. I've already let him know.

You can keep an eye on his site for when it's re-added: https://www.sosinvision.com.br/

Another option would be to convert the pins database to a custom application or a database in the Pages application. That would take quite a lot of time to get things set up, though. 😋

Thanks! I will keep a look-out on his site. That plug-in sounds like a good option.

Redoing the pin database is not an option. It's been developed the way it needs to be and has full management outside of IPS.

It seems not. So your only option at this point would be 3rd party modification, as the software is actually working as designed
