Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted September 17, 20213 yr Hi, It seems that the links in thenotification e-mails my forum sends are broken. For instance : https://www.plongeur.com/forums/topic/66857-coronavirus-covid-19/?_se=amVzdXJhbGVtQGhvdG1haWwuY29t&do=findComment&%3Bcomment=1378140 ends up in a "we couldn't find that topic" page with error code "2S136/C". I believe this is since 4.6.6 update but can't be sur eas i dont personnaly use e-mail notifications.
September 17, 20213 yr That email link actually appears to be broken there. Could I ask if you are seeing this on default language pack emails, as well as the ones which are generated in french? I ask as there appears to be quite a few areas in your language pack whereby & is showing where it shouldnt be, and that its & in the middle of that link which is causing issues
September 17, 20213 yr Author i had a feeling that & was a bad guy ! I changed my language and will be back as soon as i have a notification 🙂
September 17, 20213 yr Author Well i just received an email in english and the & is still there... https://www.plongeur.com/forums/topic/66857-coronavirus-covid-19/?_se=amVzdXJhbGVtQGhvdG1haWwuY29t&do=findComment&%3Bcomment=1378149 Now that i think about it i had a user complainig about email validation link broken too : https://www.plongeur.com/forums/index.php?_se=ZmxpcG1hbW91aWxsZUBnbWFpbC5jb20%3D&app=core&%3Bmodule=system&%3Bcontroller=register&%3Bdo=validate&%3Bvid=b3671398f7d83ec3054dcee777695a07&%3Bmid=94536 Is there any way to check what goes out from the system ? I just want to chack my smtp provider isn't the source. <= don't mind this, i switch to php for a moment and will check next notification. Edited September 17, 20213 yr by jesuralem
September 17, 20213 yr Author Solution OK never mind, my smtp relay is actually screwing up my emails... I disable it for the moment and will open a ticket with them. Sorry for the false issue...

September 20, 20213 yr Author Well Sendinblue support is trying to make me believe the problem comes from my site. I suspended my subscription and will move to SES using this : In the end i will even gain money 🙂

September 21, 20213 yr Author I do and i will 🙂 Great app, very easy to set up with the instructions. Hardest part was to get amazon to move the account out of sandbox but in the end it only took less than 24hours.
November 9, 20213 yr The same problem there. https://www.audiostereo.pl/topic/76150-rock-progresywny-i-pochodne-dobre-płyty/?do=findComment&comment=5398908 & How u fix that ? First time we have that problem after years of using same smtp serwer and other stuff. The easy way is to add .htaccess on that.

We noticed that on one user that send it to us. Is there any way to fix that or prevent from that ?. It's not the user's fault to cannot access that link. If the problem was globaly, each user would report that problem. We send mailing to 80 000 our users and non of them report that. But on notifications problem is noticeable.
November 10, 20213 yr If the issue is not present when using sendgrid, then it seems as in the case of the other user here, your mailing server is actually causing the issue
November 10, 20213 yr Author i used sendinblue and i moved to Amazon SES. So i did not really solve the problem...

November 10, 20213 yr Author Yes this was totally on the sendinblue side and they agreed to it. Basically they made some change to be able to track mail openers and clicks and this screwed IPS links. They proposed to reverse the change but were insisting that the links were screwed because IPS did not accept the _se parameter they added. Rather than fighting with them in order to explain that the real problem was that they screwed the &, i chose to cancel my subcription with them and move to AWS, and i saved quite a few bucks doing so 🙂
