MySQL ibf_core_output_cache table size & Redis

I have this kind of setup in place (Invision Community v4.5.4.2):


I found that the table 'ibf_core_output_cache' gets quite large when traffic is heavy (record was 51GB). Is that normal with my current settings? Shouldn't cache be handled by Redis db instead of MySQL?
Redis data files usually get around 30-50MB.
