Subscriptions is super CLUNKY

I just transferred over from SMF (and no, I'm not paying almost 2 additional grand for a custom setup to move subscriptions...)

But still, I'm having a ton of problems with subs in general. There is very little customization.  I can't set custom expiration dates.  I can't move people from one subscriber group to another.  Please, PLEASE tell me there's a plugin that will help with this?  My community is large and I'm about to panic.
