Setting up FTP as data storage?

I'm trying to set up FTP as storage for uploads but encounter the following error message no matter what I do

"Could not move into the directory specified. Check the directory is correct and the user provided has permission to access it."

I have created a folder in root called files/uploads and set it to 0777. The user login have access to the folder files and its subfolders. There's no error except for the one above so all the credentials are right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore.

I seem to have solved the problem. For anyone else having the issue in the future, make sure you choose the right folder path (inside of public_html) when you create the FTP account.
