Calendar threads

Not sure if anything like this exists or if there is a need for it but it'd be so useful for me that i'd be willing to pay for its development!

It'd be really handy if it was possible to create a calendar event and the event automatically get listed as a thread in a forum as a direct link to the calendar event. The reason being people tend to not check the calendar so much as the forums themselves. How difficult would this be?
