User interface to edit status updates

You have an item in the controller to edit status updates, but you don't actually use it. I submitted it as a couple of bugs, which were triaged then silently closed:

I see no reason why status updates should be treated differently to all other content (though, I could also say that about following, because the current system is not at all user friendly or consistent with the rest of the suite).
