Using thumbnail images from Blog and Pages...is it possible?

Hey guys, 

So I was messing with the block manager in IP Board 4.0 and, when adding the latest articles and latest blog posts, realized something: why isn't there an option to display the thumbnail image of the article instead of the author picture?

The reason I bring this up is because, traditionally, sites like Wordpress display the main thumbnail image as the focal point, not the author's photo.  While I do like the author's photo being displayed in some circumstances, I prefer the main image to display as a thumbnail in the side bar instead.

Does anyone know if this will be possible or is already possible?
