Page Speed: Defer parsing of JavaScript

There's plug-in that do this for Wordpress. I wanted to know what options exist for Deferring the parsing of JavaScript IPS suite to speed up page loads. Is this even a good idea for a forum app?

I was always wondering if someone would make a hook for Deferring the parsing of JavaScript so the setting would not break with every IPS update.

I can confirm that defering javascript does not breaks IPS applications (checked for Forums, Gallery, Content), but I use mod_pagespeed for defering javascript.
