Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Graeme S. Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hi guys, Google just sent me an e-mail informing me that my site has malware, but apparently can't tell me which file it is. I assume it's because someone uploaded a dodgy file (somehow) through IP.Downloads. Is there a tool I can use to find out which file it is? Kind regards, Graeme
Grumpy Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 If you login to google webmasters tools, it should pin-point for you where it found that.
Graeme S. Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 It couldn't pin point. Is it possible that someone added a link to their status update, which then showed on the main page (in the status update hook)? Google has cleared my site now, and I ran several scans and found nothing.
Grumpy Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 If google cleared it, it may already be gone. For example, if someone embeds an image from a 3rd party website (say imageshack) and then imageshack gets hacked and redirects to a hacked site, google will say your site contains malware. But when imageshack fixes their problem, your malware magically disappears too! I've had that issue once before, you may be suffering from similar.
