TSP Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Hi, I'm getting quite annoyed about how the sorting of members seems to be the same type as other searches, it shouldn't in my honest opinion. When I search for TSP in "Members"-section for example I basicly get these on the top 3. Why? I have no idea. Do you search their signatures and other fields aswell? That doesn't really help a lot when you're not telling me what it's matching anyway, so I don't see the advantages with that...schampo123 Joined on Nov 02 2010 05:50 PM drytrend4 Joined on Nov 02 2010 11:41 AM Findsast87 Joined on Oct 06 2010 07:56 AM Then later on in the search results I start getting results like:rocketspanishr Joined on May 04 2010 06:40 PM rentsproper741 Joined on May 04 2010 12:19 PM getridofzitspx Joined on May 04 2010 05:33 AM May you please explain why you think people are interested in finding random members with display names that somewhere in them match the combination of letters provided in the search field? Then, finally, in the middle of page 2 I find myself: Feestspotter.nl Joined on Jun 20 2009 02:20 PM TSP Joined on Aug 17 2008 01:01 AM ThatSpork Joined on Mar 08 2008 09:53 PM In most cases when I search in the members section I want to find the profile to the member that have a display name that matches what I write in the search and not some random other users who in some obscure or unexplained way matches my search. In my opinion the members that have the same first letters as the search term should be displayed first, and members with the search term in the end of the display name next. Then you could continue to show it like todays sorting. So it would be like this: TSP tspwhatever iamtsp ---- *todays search ordering* TSP is just an example, I've been annoyed about this when trying to find lots of other members.
TSP Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Is this something you could consider to improve? I find the current standard search method on members ridicoulous.
