Sphinx problem

I've got a forum split between 2 servers. I've installed Sphinx to the database server and set it up as per the instructions. It's generated indexes and such with no problems. Unfortunately the forum doesn't appear to be using it to search for things. It searches members fine but not the forums it just returns no results for terms I know should generate plenty of results. The settings are: Address: IP of database server, port: default, sphinx base path: /var/sphinx as per guide, wildcard searching is off.

When starting Sphinx says it's listening on 127.0.0.1:3312 so I'm wondering if that may be implying that it's only receiving connections from localhost, but that wouldn't explain why the members search seems to work fine under sphinx.

You are correct - change the listening IP to 0.0.0.0 or the IP of the server from which the other server can connect to :)
