Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
ShadowPuppet Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I have created this for my own site and was wondering if maybe you could include it as a feature in the next release... Basically it involves notifications to be checked through AJAX and delivered in real, or fairly real time to the users. What mine does is whenever a notification is sent, it also fires it off to my custom table which is polled every x seconds for new stuff. When it is, it is displayed to the user by the JS side. I think it would be great because people communicate via PM all the time and if there is no form of shoutbox on the site this way users will know when a new pm/pm reply has been received. This goes the same for forum subscriptions and topic subscriptions. :) Thank You :) ~Shadd
Amged Osman Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 yeah if this is going to be added then it should be optional, because ... more ajax requests? my server is going to explode
ShadowPuppet Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Yea optional would be a good idea but I'd like to see it... if not a mod that does it :P
