Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Fast Lane! Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I am getting members/spam that sign up, do not post and spam people via PM. My mods have IP Address viewing turned off as well as other mod features restricted (not global mods) and as such can not ban via the member profiles. Because of this they can not flag spammers since they have never posted and have no post to flag. I am sure I am not alone in needing an ability for mods to be able to do this -- and also not alone in that I do not want my mods to have member private information such as IP addresses (as well as other more dramatic mod functions). Can we enable this for forum mods to have access to flagging spammers via profiles?
Biker.GA Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 A better solution is to prohibit new users from creating signatures and using the conversation system until they've made "x" amount of posts, where they are then promoted to a usergroup that allows those perks.
Fast Lane! Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 It is also nice to allow people to register and PM folks to get their feet wet before posting. Both work, not sure which is better. I have seen this option asked for many times so I just wanted to reiterate its usefulness.
Robulosity2 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 You could also enforce Flood Control meassures on PM's per day/hour
