On my very first test of the search function on my new site, I discovered that search results completely ignore announcements. I had posted an announcement about the Facebook connection, which seems like a decent example of where it would be useful for a user to find such information that I'd posted.

Anyway, support staff confirmed that this is by design and directed me here. I feel that this should at least be an option that can be enabled.

yes, would like to see them in search results - what I do is to use the announcements to link to a certain post - that way members can reply as well.

So perhaps extend this and have announcements redirect automatically to regular posts.
