Luke Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 When does beta 3 expire? Also if you make a skin, I'm assuming you can export it and re-import it into an RC or final later on, correct?
Terry - AKA Dumbledore Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 That is the question. The skinning system had issues in B3. I haven't hear of any one being able to export in B3, without problems.
Mark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 When does beta 3 expire? Also if you make a skin, I'm assuming you can export it and re-import it into an RC or final later on, correct? It expires after beta 4 is released :) And in theory, yes, but that wouldn't be a good idea as the skin is under active development.
DawPi Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 the date? When it's ready.. Gosh, stop posting such posts! <_<
Michael Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 It expires before beta 4 is released :) Wait, beta 3 will expire before beta 4 is released? So there will be a time there when we won't be able to run a beta anymore?
Mark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Wait, beta 3 will expire before beta 4 is released? So there will be a time there when we won't be able to run a beta anymore? Sorry, I of course meant after
Luke Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I didn't ask when beta 4 would be released, or if there would be a beta 4, or even when the next scheduled release is. I'd like to know when beta 3 expires. We have a client that needs a forum, and we have about a month to complete it. What we would like to do is get the design stuff out of the way, which should be mostly the CSS stuff. Everything else we'd wait until at least there is an upgrade path. We don't want to use 2.3 because it's a lot harder to design.
Alex Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 There is a way to find out (as you probably know), if your using it on localhost, just temporarily shove your computer clock forward a few weeks/months until IPB says its expired. That's a fairly easy way of finding out, just a bit of a pain xD
Luke Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Yeah. I just would like them to tell me what they set it to. I know it has little to nothing to do with the next release date, and that at this point is irrelevant. I just want to be working on the css and don't want to be surprised if it all of a sudden stops working. Unfortunately I haven't quite figured out how to get ionCube working on my Mac yet (keeping in mind that I recompiled PHP and disabled the one that came with Leopard), and messing with the system clock on my server isn't an option.

FeigelInc Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I have a question, which Beta version will be able to use on a live site, perhaps upgrade to until the final version is done?
sparc Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I have a question, which Beta version will be able to use on a live site, perhaps upgrade to until the final version is done? None. They've stated repeatedly not to use any betas on a live site. They won't guarantee an upgrade path between betas. And if you mess up your live site using a beta, you're on your own as they won't support it. hth
beeman Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I have a question, which Beta version will be able to use on a live site, perhaps upgrade to until the final version is done? NONE! ips NEVER (at least to date) recommend running a live site on a pre final release.
FeigelInc Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 So basically we'll be waiting for the supportable stable version to upgrade.
Mark Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Luke, we don't really don't like to give out the dates as firstly, people should not be depending on the betas for any reason; they are purely for testing and as soon as the next beta comes out, you should abandon the old beta and secondly people assume that a new beta won't come out before then which isn't the case. Baring in mind what I've just send, beta 3 will expire around the end of April :)
Sky Nguyen Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 i think you guy should add shout out for the IPB 3.0 forum when is the final release i hope this final version has a shout out for the members can chat in the forum of IPB 3.0 Software thanks just my opinion.
Qwerty7500 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Baring in mind what I've just send, beta 3 will expire around the end of April :) Maybe a silly question but does that mean that IPB3 beta 4 won't release before approximately 2 months?
Mark Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Maybe a silly question but does that mean that IPB3 beta 4 won't release before approximately 2 months? We don't really don't like to give out the dates as ... people assume that a new beta won't come out before then which isn't the case.
Mesmer Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Maybe a silly question but does that mean that IPB3 beta 4 won't release before approximately 2 months? It only means beta 3 stops working at the end of april, nothing more.
Qwerty7500 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Ok thanks Mesmer, sorry for this question Mark W
Luke Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Luke, we don't really don't like to give out the dates as firstly, people should not be depending on the betas for any reason; they are purely for testing and as soon as the next beta comes out, you should abandon the old beta and secondly people assume that a new beta won't come out before then which isn't the case. Baring in mind what I've just send, beta 3 will expire around the end of April :) Mark, I'm not an idiot, and I know not to rely on the betas. All I asked is when the beta was going to expire. I know full well this has absolutely nothing to do with the next release date. We have a tight timeline to work with, and we have to get something done. A logical thing to work on is the style sheet and skinning. This may change slightly from now until then, but I don't believe the skin will change that drastically anyway. The last thing I want is to work on the style sheet to find the beta expires tomorrow.
