...and I've just not found it somewhere, but is there any time line on when we will be able to start downloading version 3? I know I have read somewhere that this release was planned for Gold sometime in the 4th quarter...is this still an accurate time line or am I mistaken altogether?

All we know is that some time before the end of the year we shall see a release.
