Adding a prefix at the beginning of topics titles ?

Hello !

What do you think of the idea of easily adding a prefix to the topics titles, according to the forums you post in ? It would be an option which could be enabled in the ACP.

For instance, if I post a topic in a forum called "Programming", I would have the possibility to add prefixes such as For my own board, I would like to have, for instance [Grammar], [Vocabulary], etc. in a forum named "English". What do you think of it ? Thank you ! :)

, [AS] or [JS] at the beginning of the topic's title.

I never liked this on vB, it needlessly lengthens thread titles in my opinion... personally I think that post icons should be made more useful by basically serving the purpose of being a prefix, like Something Awful does.

Yes, it lengthens titles, but not needlessly : it's very useful since it would make search easier, for instance. On the other hand, using icons wouldn't ease searches, and would then actually be needless.

Moreover, creating or finding the icons which everyone would understand would be a pain : which icons would you use (provided you find them) for vocabulary, grammar, and other school domains ? Which icons for PHP, JavaScript, ActionScript, etc. ?

And why use icons which not everybody understands, when it's so easy to write a prefix or a word ?

As for me, I do prefer prefixes. :)

I really don't like this feature, it makes the topic list look cluttered and adds very little value in my opinion. In any event, I would assume a tagging system would remove any need for this feature, so long as it was properly implemented.

These would beter be if there are different categories - Programming and forums like ASP, PHP, , JS

But yes for things like request, solved, suggestion, spam etc
