Invision Portal on 3.0...

The reason I am asking about the portal is because over the years we went from Portal, to IPDL, to Nexus (still unavailable) and whatnot. The current portal is pretty weak in some areas (especially latest posts) and I'm wondering if there are changes in the works for the new version of IPB?

I know there are other portals (i.e. MKPortal, Unreal and Fportal....). However most are not completely compatible and won't work with options like Blog inclusion and gallery.

I have not used in vision's portal in a long time.
I use ocportal my self and ya it does not pull fomr the blog or gallery either although it also has its own of both of those.

Yep well the older versions were free too just not open source like 4 will be.
Well open source as you can now make your own version.
The pay version of ocportal only basically removed the branding (copyright) and gave you full support, no features.

Ok, hang on. OCPortal looks more like a CMS than an actual Portal. A portal is one page, displays all the content of the website in a neat and contextual fashion. I don't need the OCPortal, that's basically a whole website - I need a portal page.

ya ocportal is a cms it may have portal in the name and may be used as a portal though.
thats what I am using it for right now but when 4 does come out I will be using its wiki system.

Honeslty to me that's overkill. There are good Wiki clients for IPB and I already have Blogs and Gallery. Having another script sitting on my server that is redundant is well... redundant :ermm: . I don't know about you, but scripts that compliment and use the same database reducing overall footprint and reducing the load on my server make me a happy guy.

No one has any info?

Question is, when will Unreal Portal and others work with 3.0? Ask yourself that.... Built in portal will work day one without waiting for an outside developer to modify the code to work with 3.0 changes.
