Ability to add buttons?

Are we going to have the ability to add buttons like "Image", "Quote", etc... or is that only for "Quick Access" and "Insert Special Item". I'm sure that I could edit the rte template and add one manually, but I'm a bit concerned because they are wrapped with div's with something like id="ed-0_cmd_insertimage" and im wondering how I'm going to be able to add a button...

I'm curious about this because there is going to be a function I'm making that really doesnt make sense under "Insert Special Item" because It doesnt insert something...

I always disliked how difficult it was to manually add bbcode tag buttons. It would be nice it it was just part of the custom bbcode manager. It just seems to make the most sense.

Well that's what "insert Special Item" and "Quick Access" is for, although you can add your own stuff via javascript. What I would like to do is add buttons for another feature, non-BBCode related, via javascript (so I don't have to modify that editor template).
